On October 24-25, 2025, the conference VII AIS/Design Conference “History of Products or History of Contexts? Useful Antinomies for the History of Design” will be held at the Polytechnic University of Bari, curated by Rossana Carullo, Vincenzo Cristallo, and Monica Pastore.
The conference invites researchers and scholars to reflect on two integrated reading levels that traverse the historical debate of design: on one hand, the identity of products that span the linearity of industrialized processes and the contemporary indeterminacy of notions of production and consumption; on the other hand, design understood as context, multiple in its variations and in the adoption of arguments concerning ideas, practices, and “environments,” also interpreted in a political key.
