*Joining SID as an Associate Member as an enthusiast of design disciplines or as a Supporting Member requires submitting a written application in digital form, which must be approved by the Board of Directors.
Excerpt from the Regulations: 7. Members and Membership Fees
With the Resolution of February 23, 2024, the SID Board issues directives for the organization and appointment of Members, through the following Regulations to be attached to the Statute and with immediate effect.
Art. 7.1 Rights and Duties of Full Members
A Full Member must be a teacher or researcher employed at Italian public universities. The Full Member can participate in association activities and attend Ordinary or Extraordinary Assemblies with voting rights and can hold association positions. Each year, upon renewal of membership, the Full Member is required to update the admission profile.
For Full Members, the annual membership fee is set at 100 (one hundred) euros.
Art. 7.2 Rights and Duties of Associate Members
Joining SID as an Associate Member requires submitting a written application in digital form, which must be favorably received by the Board of Directors. The Associate Member can participate in association activities but cannot attend Ordinary or Extraordinary Assemblies of Members, nor hold elective positions. Each year, upon renewal of membership, the Associate Member is required to update the admission profile.
For Associate Members, the annual membership fee is set at 50 (fifty) euros.
Art. 7.3 Rights and Duties of Supporting Members
Joining SID as a Supporting Member requires submitting a written application in digital form, which must be favorably received by the Board of Directors. The Supporting Member can participate in association activities with only one representative, but cannot attend Ordinary or Extraordinary Assemblies of Members, nor hold elective positions. Each year, upon renewal of membership, the Supporting Member is required to update the admission profile.
For Supporting Members, the annual membership fee is set at 500 (five hundred) euros.
Art. 7.4 Honorary Members
The appointment as Honorary Member can be granted to prominent figures in the cultural, scientific, and professional fields of recognized authority, who have particularly distinguished themselves in the field of Design, especially:
- to retired professors and researchers in the Design sector, who have brought particular prestige and progress to the discipline of Design through their scientific activities and/or institutional representation or who have significantly contributed to the growth of the Design scientific community and its institutional bodies;
- to prominent figures in the field of Design, both nationally and internationally, renowned designers, and individuals who have held top positions in important research centers, agencies, companies, non-profit organizations, and international bodies related to Design.
The appointment as Honorary Member is proposed to the Board of Directors, with a written application (in digital format) upon the request of at least three members of the Board of Directors or five SID Members in good standing with the payment of membership fees. The application highlights the main relevant elements that characterize the figure and profile of the aspiring Honorary Member and justify the appointment. The appointment is decided by the Board of Directors, with majority approval. The designated Honorary Member will be formally invested with the title of “SID Honorary Member” at a public SID event.
