The Italian Society of Architectural Technology – SITdA promotes the International Conference “THE PRODUCTION OF THE PROJECT” to be held in Reggio Calabria on June 14 and 15, 2018.
The Conference aims to focus on the transformations induced in project activities by the multiple challenges posed by the economic crisis, climate change and environmental emergencies, the impact of the Web and ICT on social and productive systems, the urgency and complexity of the processes of upgrading existing structures, and the consequent adjustments to the regulatory framework. A reality that highlights numerous critical issues, but also significant prospects for updating concerning the places, forms, contents, and operational methods of “doing architecture,” at all levels and scales of intervention. These challenges indeed have repercussions on the social and ethical role of designing. They also indicate the need to review its cultural and technical significance, with a repositioning within the processes of anthropic transformation of territories and cities aimed at providing adequate responses to the dynamics of social, political, and economic demand.
The Conference therefore proposes itself as an opportunity for a broad and open discussion among those in institutions, research, academia, professional and productive sectors who are interested in envisioning strategies and implementing actions aimed at offering new skills, raising the quality of the project and built works, rethinking the forms of knowledge and the cognitive statutes of the project itself. Also considering the necessary repercussions on different levels of education.
In perspective, the Conference also configures itself as a stage in a path aimed at developing a program of shared strategies and actions, useful to support an increasingly active dialogue of the Italian Society of Architectural Technology in various institutional, political, and technical contexts.
