UNI 12001 standard approved, defining the knowledge, skills and competency requirements for the professional figure of the designer. This result represents the success of extensive joint work between the Italian Society of Design (SID), the Italian University Conference of Design (CUID) and the many people who have collaborated at the UNI working table over these years, coordinated by Luciano Perondi.
The standard, proposed by ADI, AIAP and AIPI with the participation of SID, Cuid, University of Camerino and University of Florence, POLI.design, CNA, IED, ISIA, NABA, outlines the designer as a professional who places the project at the center as intellectual and methodological elaboration, with the objective of improving the quality of life for people and the environment. The standard defines a transversal figure adaptable to various disciplinary fields and distinguishes two professional levels in accordance with the European Qualifications Framework: first-level designer (EQF 6) and expert designer (EQF 7).
The standard is characterized by the adoption of gender-neutral language, strong inclusivity towards disabilities and attention to environmental and ethical aspects of design production.
