The Italian Society of Design (SID) is pleased to announce the opening of the Call for Papers for the 2027 Annual Conference “Design Intersections,” to be held in Bologna from June 30 to July 2, 2027, at the Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna.

The conference invites the Italian and international academic community to reflect on the relational dimension of design research, considering networks as the cultural, organizational, and design infrastructure of the discipline. The intersection identifies the generative space in which design connects knowledge, actors, and contexts: between disciplinary and application fields, institutions, territories, communities, and design cultures, between human and non-human actors, and between local and international dimensions.

The call is organized into three tracks: Connections. Shaping processes; Nodes. Materializing outcomes; Constellations. Visualizing networks. Research projects (full papers) and research ideas – emerging research stories (posters and short papers) are accepted, in Italian or English, and will be evaluated via double-blind peer review.
