On the occasion of the 2025 Annual Conference, Plural Design. Alternative Cases and Models for Innovation, SID invites Italian and international academics to explore the theme of plurality as a paradigm of contemporaneity and as a research and action strategy.
In increasingly complex, interconnected, and dynamic global and local scenarios, new models of innovation and dialogue are needed that are systemic, open, collective, discontinuous, lateral, interdisciplinary, sustainable, and inclusive. Divided into three specific thematic areas, the call aims to select contributions—projects and ideas—that can represent the state of the art of ongoing research in relation to these priorities and design sensitivities.
How can Design operate on the creative recombination of existing resources and assets, on dialogue and collaboration between expert and non-expert knowledge, and do so by giving new value to what is physically or symbolically located on the “periphery”?
