In 2023, the Italian Design Society established bottom-up working groups on permanent themes and those related to scientific research, as well as on institutional and cultural issues, with the aim of broadening and enhancing the active participation of members, building our identity together, and strengthening the sense of belonging. This initiative encourages the active participation of the younger resources growing within our community, who will soon be its main protagonists.
What are bottom-up working groups?
Bottom-up working groups are composed of doctoral students, researchers, and faculty members of any rank who share specific research interests or structural themes related to scientific research policies.
The bottom-up working groups meet freely to share and network knowledge or experiences in particular sectors, support research and scientific development in design, develop projects, and add value to individual and collective work.
The bottom-up working groups meet regularly with seminars during the annual SID conferences, which will be included in the program, but they also develop activities online, outside the regular program of the Society.
Present a new bottom-up working group
The call for new working groups is always open, with the aim of stimulating the creativity and interest of members to participate and contribute actively to the life of the Society and to promote scientific research in its various forms.
The bottom-up working groups are organized horizontally through forms of co-responsibility and are freely composed of interested members. To value all geographical areas of our community, with special attention to those less represented, the composition of the groups must include at least three members located in different geographical areas.
A member of the Board of Directors will be responsible for coordination and synthesis.
