We have learned that the Department of Architecture, Design, and Urban Planning of Alghero, University of Sassari, might not open enrollments next year, thus leading to the conclusion of its successful experience.
This surprises and concerns us.
In a country like ours, where the most used term is “meritocracy,” it scandalizes us that an experience, situated in a challenging reality due to lack of development like Sardinia, and ranked first or among the top in CENSIS and MIUR rankings, is forced to close due to lack of funds.
Each of us has had, on various occasions, the opportunity to collaborate with the faculty, researchers, and students of the Department, finding a serious, committed, and also innovative and enthusiastic environment.
We cannot believe in its closure; this possibility scandalizes us.
We ask the academic and political authorities to ensure the normal life of an institution that honors our country.
As SID, we have decided to participate in a petition addressed to a group of colleagues and cultural figures.
Those interested can send confirmation of their participation, briefly indicating their role and affiliated university to the address: ceccarelli@uniss.it
