SID is pleased to sponsor the International Symposium “STRETCH THE EDGE – Design Driven Processes for Reactivating Small Walled Towns and Inland Areas” to be held at the Design Degree Courses of the University of the Republic of San Marino (Antico Monastero Santa Chiara – Contrada Omerelli, 20 — San Marino 47890 Republic of San Marino) on June 22 and 23, 2023, starting at 9:30 AM.
Sixteen international case studies will be presented, where design serves as a central element for the reactivation of inland areas surrounded by natural or artificial barriers, divided into three sessions moderated by Raffaella Fagnoni, Full Professor at the Iuav University of Venice, Daniele Fanzini, Full Professor at the Polytechnic University of Milan, and Claudio Gambardella, Full Professor at the University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelli.
The sessions will open with Keynote Speakers: Helena Casanova, architect and author of the book “Public Space Acupuncture”; Agostino Riitano, Cultural Manager and current director of Pesaro Italian Capital of Culture 2024; and Pablo Sendra, Architect, Associate Professor at the Bartlett School of Planning and co-author with Richard Sennett of the book: “Designing Disorder. Ideas for the Twenty-First Century City.”
Thematic workshops open to the public are scheduled for the afternoon of June 23.
